I am a 3rd year PhD student in the Department of History at Michigan State University.  My research focuses on historical constructions of ethnic and gender identity among Zulu-speaking peoples in South Africa.  I also work on the history of sport in South Africa, especially the politics of contemporary youth football.  Connected to these interests, as a Cultural Heritage Informatics Fellow, I developed and created Imbiza: A Digital Repository of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, an audiovisual collection of photos and videos related to South Africa’s most recent sports mega-event.  I also blog regularly at Football Is Coming Home.
